港燈住宅電動車分時段供電價目:凌晨 2 至 6 時回扣 18.7 仙HK Electric's residential EV time-of-use tariff: 18.7 cents back between 2 and 6am
HK Electric works differently from CLP: not two prices, but rebates and surcharges on top of the standard tariff. 18.7 cents back per unit in the super off-peak window (2–6am), 18.7 cents added at peak (8am–11pm) — a 37.4-cent swing. Set a delay and the charger waits for 2am on its own.
Hong Kong Island, Ap Lei Chau and Lamma are HK Electric's supply area, and their residential EV time-of-use tariff (EVToU) is structured differently from CLP's: not two prices, but a rebate or a surcharge applied to your existing residential tariff.
HK Electric's own graphic prints the off-peak window as "11pm to 2am" in a way that reads as afternoon in Chinese; the surrounding text makes clear it's the evening. HK Electric's EVToU FAQ governs.
Best to worst: a 37.4-cent swing
18.7 cents back at super off-peak, 18.7 cents added at peak. The same unit charged at 3am versus 3pm differs by 37.4 HK cents.
At 300 units a month:
Charging entirely in this window
Monthly adjustment
Super off-peak (2–6am)
−$56.10
Off-peak (6–8am, 11pm–2am)
−$27.90
Peak (8am – 11pm)
+$56.10
These are the adjustments only — 300 units times the per-unit rebate or surcharge — not the whole bill. The base tariff, fuel cost adjustment and other charges are separate, and your HK Electric bill governs.
Bays with no network: set the delay on the side of the unit. Home at 10pm, plug in, set four hours, and it starts at 2am — right on the super off-peak boundary. Two RFID cards are included for unlocking, and none of it needs a signal. Full walkthrough: charging where there's no network.
Bays with a network: set the delay and a recurring schedule from the app, tuned to when you get home and when you leave.
A 7kW charger puts roughly 28 units in over those four hours — about a week of ordinary driving. If you cover more ground than that, add the off-peak windows (6–8am, 11pm–2am) and you still get 9.3 cents back.
The prerequisite: the charger needs its own meter
As with CLP, EVToU presupposes that the charging equipment has its own meter. If your bay is billed through the estate's common meter, the time you charge makes no difference at all.
What we provide: charger selection, a site assessment of power and signal, installation and testing, and a walkthrough of what each step of the application needs — field by field.
When is EVToU cheapest?
2am to 6am, 18.7 cents per unit back.
Can I charge between 11pm and 2am?
Yes — that's the off-peak window, 9.3 cents back. Better than peak, half as good as super off-peak.
What happens if I charge between 8am and 11pm?
That's peak: 18.7 cents added per unit. Avoiding those fifteen hours is the whole point.
What does EVToU require?
The charging equipment needs its own meter, and you apply to HK Electric to move onto the tariff. A bay billed through the estate's common meter doesn't qualify.
