柱位安裝・接駁現成刀掣Pillar mount, straight onto the isolator
屋苑已完成 EHSS,柱身早已預留刀掣。四種情況之中最快的一種:冇審批要追、冇線路要開,落機接駁再掛錶就完成。The estate had finished EHSS and the isolator was already on the pillar. The fastest of the four: no approval to chase, no cabling to run — mount, connect, meter.
屋苑停車場・已有刀掣Estate carpark · Isolator in placeWall Case 37kW半日完工Half a day
The estate had completed the infrastructure works under the EPD's EV-charging at Home Subsidy Scheme (EHSS). The isolator and trunking were already on the concrete pillar beside the bay. All that was missing was a charger.
This is Type 1 of the four situations, and the smoothest. The groundwork is done; what's left is the connection and the meter.
The hard part
Honestly, there wasn't one. What's worth recording is that the owner was worried about the wrong thing.
He assumed that because the estate had gone through EHSS he'd be locked into a management-nominated charger and a monthly plan. In fact EHSS funds the infrastructure — the cabling, the isolator, the metering position — not a particular brand of unit. Everything downstream of the isolator is the owner's choice of contractor and model.
The other common misreading: an isolator being present doesn't mean the supply is live. There's usually still no meter behind it, and that has to be applied for.
What we did
Checked the isolator's rating first.
On site we measured the isolator's rated current, the cable size, and the existing run from the pillar to the meter room, and confirmed it would carry a sustained 7kW without an upgrade.
Mounted on the pillar.
The Wall Case 3 body is 250 × 250 × 90mm, so on the pillar face it doesn't protrude far enough to interfere with the neighbouring bay's doors. The cable coils under the unit rather than trailing onto the floor where it would be driven over.
The pillar carries the usual black-and-yellow warning band; we deliberately mounted above it so a reversing car can't reach the unit.
Connected, tested, metered.
Connected to the existing isolator, electrical tests run and records issued, then a date booked with the utility for the dedicated meter.
The outcome
Mounted and connected in the morning, metered in the afternoon, live the same day.
From accepted quote to charging, this route is far quicker than the other three — because the slow parts, approval and infrastructure, were already done by the estate.
Who this case is useful for
If your estate has posted a notice about completing EHSS, or you walk down to the carpark and there's already an isolator beside your bay, you're most likely in this group.
Two things worth confirming first: that the isolator belongs to your bay, and whether a meter has been fitted. Send a photo of the isolator and the bay on WhatsApp and we can tell you straight away.
